Due to the changes IASF has implemented, any non-US coaches will be required to complete their coaching certification within their own country. BCSC is offering a credentialing program until a national coaches certification program is created. Members of the BCSC are actively working with Cheer Canada to create national coaching certification so there will be some continuity when we transition into the national program.
Please note that credentialing is separate from the Technical Course we offer. The Technical Course is a great way to prepare for credentialing, but is not included.
Policies
- Coaches must be 16 (within one month of the credentialing session) to participate in credentialing.
- Coaches are permitted to re-certify within 6 months of their certificate expiring.
- Coaches are only permitted to credential up to 2 different levels within the same session, subject to completion of hours
- No shows and cancellations: Coaches must provide at least 48 hours notice to the credentialing evaluator to change their time or cancel. Coaches who provide less than 48 hours notice or do not show up to their appointment will be charged a fee of $20.
- Coaches are permitted to try the online test for a certain level up to 3 times. If they cannot pass in three tries, it will be suggested that they take the technical course (if available) or speak to a supervising coach for help. They may retry on the next session.
First Time/Expired:
If you have no previous coaching Certification or it has been expired for more than 6 months you may credential levels 1-2 for a $50 flat rate. This rate includes an online written test and an in-person/virtual coaching evaluation.
Rates:
Level 1- $30
Level 2- $30
Level 3- $30
Level 4- $40
Level 5- $40
Level 6- $50
Level 7 **- $50
** Note: Level 7 credentialing is now broken into two sections. Although the written test is the same for both, when being evaluated, please specify if you wish to be credentialed for level 7 with flipping (no twisting) baskets, or with all twisting baskets.
Non-affiliated members will be charged an additional $25 administration fee.
If you are credentialing any level between levels 3 and 7, a practical field experience form must be submitted before seeing a Coach Evaluator (CE).
Re-Credentialing:
If you are re-certifying your existing level, it is a $35 flat rate. If you have an active certification (obtained through USASF, ICU, or BCCA within the past 3 years) and would like to upgrade to a higher level, please see the table above for rates.
Credentialing Periods:
Credentialing occurs four times a year in February, May, August, and November. Registration for each session will open one month prior.

- When you are ready, fill out the registration form.
- We will send you an invoice for the amount owing.
- Send your payment through e-transfer to treasurer@bcsportcheer.ca. Please write your full name in the message/note field and use an easy to answer secret question such as “What sport is this for” Answer: Cheerleading. You will not be scheduled until payment has been received.
- The Credentialing Administrator (CA) will contact you within several days of your payment to provide you with links to the online test.
** Please note that there is an additional fee of $10 to retake the online exam.
- A Coach Evaluator (CE) will contact you to set up a date and location of your Coach Evaluation (in February, May, August, or November).
- You MUST complete your online test prior to the 1st of February, May, August, or November to be scheduled for your Coach Evaluation.
- Complete your Practical Field Form with your gym owner or supervising coach (if you are credentialing between levels 3 and 7) and send a digital copy to coach@bcsportcheer.ca
** Please note that this needs to be done before the CA will send your contact information to the CE.

- RESULTS:
a. If you have been successful you will be emailed a certificate which shows that you have completed the theoretical aspects of credentialing following the end of the evaluation month.
b. If you are unsuccessful, your CE will explain areas for improvement before scheduling a re-take evaluation.
** Please note that there is an additional fee of $20 to retake the coach evaluation.
c. If you do not show up for your session, you will not receive a refund. If you contact your CE 48 hours in advance, they will work with you to reschedule.
