About Judges

Cheerleading Judges for BC Events are hired after completing Judging Training.

INTRO TO JUDGING

On, Thursday, October 3rd, BCSC hosted an Intro to Judging Session,  facilitated by experienced Judges. This session was directed toward those who are interested in judging. 


Learning Objectives

During this session, participants will:

  • Go over how to become a judge
  • Review the role of a judge, e.g. concepts of judging score sheets etc.
  • Discuss the different options for specialization.
  • Get their questions answered during the Q&A.

Level 1: Introduction to Cheer Canada Officiating

Prerequisites:

  • Complete your membership registration with Sport Lomo
  • Be 18 years of age and older
  • Complete a Criminal Record Check
  • Complete NCCP Safe Sport
  • Submit an application
  • Have 5 years of experience in cheerleading industry as an athlete, coach, choreographer or equivalent


After completing all of the above, you are eligible to register for the Introduction to Officiating course online and achieve a minimum of 80%


You must complete all of the requirements above for Level 1 to move forward to Level 2

Level 2: Regional Official

Prerequisites:

  • Successfully complete Level 1: Introduction to Cheer Canada Officiating
  • Adjudicate the Pseudo Electronic Event OR four (4) hours of mentored/shadowed adjudication in a competitive environment

Actions:

  • Attend the Officials Training Course and complete the Officiating Exam, achieving a minimum of 80% on each exam (all scoring categories the official would like to specialize in).
  • Complete eight (8) additional hours of mentored/shadow adjudication in a competition environment in the desired discipline.


Upon completion of ALL of the requirements above for Level 2, officials will be equipped with the skills and certified to be hired for Regional/Entry level officiating positions.
