SCHOLARSHIPS & GRANTS

BC Sport Cheer (BCSC) awarded $7,000 in sport grant opportunities for member athletes last season! 

Grants to be awarded this year:

• Recreational Only Athletes (4 grants at $250)
• People of Colour (2 grants at $500)
• Indigenous Athletes ( 2 grants at $500)
• Newcomers (landed immigrants who came to Canada up to five years prior) (2 grants at $500)
• LGBTQIA2S+ Athletes (2 grants at $500)
• Athlete with a disability (2 grants at $500)
• Financial aid (2 grants at $500)

How does it work?

• Applicants (or their parent/guardian) fill out the application form, and BCSC confirms eligibility.
• BCSC will contact the successful recipient AND their program to notify of award.
• BCSC will send the grant funds to the program to be applied to the recipient's account by December 20, 2025.

Preference may be given to those who have not received a grant from BC Sport Cheer in the past three (3) years.

Timeline:

Open Date: October 15th, 2025

Close Date: November 15th, 2025 @ 11:59pm PST

Applications will reopen in January.

Current Grade 12 Students:

• $1000 for a current high school student on a scholastic team program
• $1000 for a current grade 12 student who is entering post-secondary
• $500 for a current grade 12 student who is entering post secondary

Returning Post-Secondary Students

• $1000 for a current post-secondary student on a university team  
• $1000 for a returning post secondary student 
• $500 for a returning post secondary student 

Requirements:

• Applicants must be a registered member with BCSC and Cheer Canada on the Sport Lomo platform.
• All Application materials (application form and emailed transcript) must be received by January 15, 2025 at 11:59 PM PST. Late submissions will not be considered.
• Recipients will not be eligible in consecutive years (i.e. if you received a scholarship in 2024, you will not be eligible for 2025)
• Anyone receiving the award can use the funds for either the summer or fall session following the current cheer season as the intent is to help them continue their education.
